Creating Opportunities: Transition to School Professional Development Program
Hunter Prelude is partnering with the NSW Department of Education to deliver the Creating Opportunities: Transition to School Professional Development Program.
This program has been funded through the NSW Department of Education’s Sector Development Program.
The program will be delivered between August 2021 – June 2022 and is available to all Early Childhood Education services delivering a preschool educational program in NSW.
The program will assist Early Childhood Educators, Early Childhood Teachers and Directors to support all children transitioning to school including:
- Children with developmental delay and disability
- First Nations & Aboriginal children
- Children from low socio-economic backgrounds
- Other vulnerable children who required additional support
The Creating Opportunities: Transition to School Program will include targeted training as follows:
Stream 1: Educators and Services
- Formative and Summative Assessment: A practical guide where to start
- The How, What, and Why Positive Transition to School
- Writing Transition to School Statements
- Supporting a child with disability and or additional needs through transition
Stream 2: Teachers, Directors & Educational leaders
- Supporting a child with additional needs and or disability through transition
- Developing a successful transition to school program
- Establishing meaningful community partnerships
- Leading my team through transition
Elective Streams
- Importance of Transition during COVID-19
- Supporting First Nations Families to Transition to School
- Trauma and Transition
- School Transition from Allied Heath Perspective
- Transitioning to school: the reflective teacher
How can you benefit?
- Build knowledge and understanding of Department of Education
- Develop further understanding of EYLF, NQS, Best Practice in Early Intervention guides, and how to connect to your current practice
- Practical examples of transition to school from different perspectives
- Understanding of the importance of building partnerships to establish effective school transition
- Free developed resources, and professional development

The NSW Sector Support Program, Transition to School, facilitated by Hunter Prelude has been rescheduled by the NSW Department of Education to commence in 2022.
