Hunter Prelude in partnership with local organisations, businesses and community members is hosting the 2015 Global Cardboard box challenge (GCBC) in the Lower Hunter on Saturday 10th October. This year’s Global Cardboard Box Challenge will invite children, families and businesses in the Lower Hunter to design, build and create from cardboard and recycled materials using their imaginations.

Some of the outcomes of this day are to:
• Engage children in creative play and foster creativity and team work
• Give children an opportunity to explore their interests and passions
• Provide a platform for communities to actively foster and celebrate children’s creativity
• Build stronger communities by bringing stakeholders together in a community activity that will strengthen the network of the local community.
• To build awareness that parents and the broader community play a vital role in supporting successful learning outcomes for our children.
• To promote family relationships.
• Increase global happiness and makes for a happier, more playful world!
• HAVE FUN!!
We are excited to invite students, teachers, businesses, Government and non-government organisations and community members to participate in our Cardboard Box Challenge on Saturday 10th October 2015.

WHAT IS THE GLOBAL CARDBOARD CHALLENGE?
The Imagination Foundation invites the world to participate in our 5th Annual Global Cardboard Challenge. Inspired by the short film, ‘Caine’s Arcade’, the Global Cardboard Challenge is a worldwide celebration of child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it. In the month of October, kids are challenged to create and build out of cardboard, recycled materials and imagination.

WHY PARTICIPATE?
‘The Global Cardboard Challenge gives children an opportunity to collaborate, learn, and build the things they imagine through a simple process called Creative Play. The Challenge lets children explore their interests and passions; teaches critical thinking, resourcefulness, perseverance, teamwork and other 21st century skills; and brings communities together to foster and celebrate child creativity!’
